The friendly city of Port Elizabeth has much to offer by way of leisure, it is situated on South Africa’s south-eastern coastline and overlooks Algoa Bay. The city boasts 40 km’s of gorgeous golden seaside including Blue Flag beaches such as Kings, Humewood and Hobie. Aside from the pleasant Agulhus current and perpetually fabulous weather, activities such as shark diving, whale watching as well as scenic river and ocean cruises draw scores of visitors to the water each day. Another exciting Port Elizabeth beach event is the Nelson Mandela Bay Splash festival which takes place each year over the Easter weekend.
Port Elizabeth is abound with hectares of untainted game reserve. Addo Elephant Park, Sea View Lion Park, the Kagga Kamma Game Park and Cape Recife Nature Reserve are but a few of the numerous animal sanctuaries accessible from PE. The city also links-up with many scenic tourist routes such as the legendary Garden Route.
Other unique attractions in this charming city include the Port Elizabeth Apple Express and the Oceanarium as well as a number of indigenous forests and walking trails. The Flamingo trail, for example is a fantastic outdoor experience which allows you to really get up close and personal with the splendid African bush.
